A common problem in Mercedes vehicles, the key will not turn in the ignition. This problem is usually caused by failed Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS), Defective steering lock module (ESL/ELV or a defective key.
Often affects M/G-Class, C-Class, GLK and E-Class vehicles. Symptoms usually are;
-ESL/ELV
Often Fails, leaving steering wheel in locked position with a "No Start". and "Remove Key" message. Most ESL/ELV units can be repaired, no programming necessary.
A more permanent solution is the installation of a ELV emulator. The emulator will replace the failure prone original ELV. CONTACT US for pricing and more Information.
-EIS
EIS are also prone to failure. Many times they will not recognize the key inserted. Other failures include key turning but nothing happening or not turning at all. While a new EIS can be installed, it's expensive part and requires Programming/Coding. Better option copy the information from original EIS into used EIS from similar vehicle. Existing Keys will work, additional keys can be added. Original EIS and Keys will be required for this service. CONTACT US for price and information on Mercedes EIS repair and EIS Data Transfer.
-Keys
While Mercedes keys are reliable, they don't last forever. Drops, left in the sun/heat, water and liquid intrusion will eventually lead to failure. We can program keys on most vehicles (up to 2015-16) models, even with push button vehicles. Latest equipment to program and cut laser keys.
