MERCEDES 7G-Tronic 722.9 TCU - ISM

   Mercedes vehicles with 7G-Tronic 722.9 automatic transmission, will often have failures of the conductor plate (TCM) and Gear Shift Module (ISM).  Causes will usually include the transmission to hold too long in one gear before  aggressively forcing the next gear, this causes a very rough  and jerky gear change. Many different codes for speed sensor related faults.

   The fault usually starts out as intermittent. Eventually will became permanent if left unresolved. 

   The TCM conductor plate, includes the TCM module. This module, has immobilizer functions and can't simply be "swapped" with a new or used module. Immobilizer information will need to be programed in order for vehicle to start and run.  Mercedes dealership will make it difficult to purchase new modules, as they are theft relevant parts. In addition, will need to be programmed/ SCN coded and relearned to the vehicle. 

   By renewing a used module, that module can now be coded to your vehicle. Some programming and coding will be needed. This solution works better when original TCU is not available or can't communicate.  If the original TCU and/or ISM available, the best solution is to clone the modules.
